Frequently Asked Questions
Your questions are sacred. Your skincare should be too. At Kaia Skin, we believe in transparency, intention, and ritual. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our products, philosophy, and how to create your own intuitive skincare ritual.
Kaia Skin combines Ayurvedic botanical ingredients, modern skin science, and mindful skincare rituals. Each formulation is designed to support the skin barrier while encouraging a calm and intentional skincare experience.
Skin renewal cycles typically take around 28 days. Consistent use of well-formulated skincare products and gentle routines may lead to visible improvements over time.
Stress can affect the skin by triggering inflammation and sensitivity. Gentle skincare routines, calming botanical ingredients, and facial massage can help support healthier-looking skin.
Plants contain naturally occurring antioxidants, vitamins, and phytonutrients that help support healthy skin. Many botanical ingredients have been used in traditional beauty practices for centuries.
Facial massage may help stimulate circulation and support lymphatic drainage. This can improve the appearance of puffiness and help skincare products absorb more effectively.
A simple routine typically includes gentle cleansing, hydration through mists or toners, nourishing oils or moisturizers, and weekly masking or exfoliation.
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived ingredient that has gained popularity as a gentler alternative to retinol. It is often used in botanical skincare formulations to support smoother-looking skin without the irritation sometimes associated with retinoids.
Botanical ingredients such as chamomile, calendula, aloe, blue tansy, and fennel are commonly used in skincare to help soothe the appearance of redness and irritation.
Most face masks can be used one to three times per week depending on skin type. Detoxifying clay masks may be used less frequently, while soothing or hydrating masks may be used more regularly.
Powder face masks preserve plant ingredients in their most stable form until they are activated. This allows users to mix them with water, hydrosols, honey, or yogurt depending on their skin needs.
Skin inflammation can be triggered by stress, harsh skincare products, environmental factors, and lifestyle habits. Supporting the skin barrier and using calming botanical ingredients can help maintain balanced skin.
Botanical ingredients rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and plant nutrients can help support the skin barrier. Oils such as jojoba, sea buckthorn, and rosehip help nourish the skin while supporting moisture retention.
The skin barrier is the outermost layer of the skin that protects against environmental stressors while preventing moisture loss. When the barrier becomes compromised, the skin may appear dry, irritated, or sensitive. Supporting the barrier with nourishing ingredients helps maintain healthy, resilient skin.
Ayurvedic skincare focuses on restoring balance in the skin using plant-based ingredients and traditional beauty rituals. Ingredients such as amla, manjishtha, saffron, and neem are known for their antioxidant and skin-supporting properties. This approach emphasizes long-term skin health rather than quick fixes.
Not all oils clog pores. Some plant oils, such as jojoba oil, raspberry seed oil, and meadowfoam oil, are lightweight and help balance the skin’s natural oil production. Choosing oils appropriate for your skin type is important for maintaining balanced skin.
Facial oils and moisturizers serve different purposes. Moisturizers hydrate the skin by attracting water, while facial oils help seal that hydration into the skin. High-quality botanical oils also deliver essential fatty acids and antioxidants that support the skin barrier. Many people use facial oils after a mist or moisturizer to lock in hydration.
Many Kaia Skin formulations contain calming botanical ingredients such as chamomile, blue tansy, calendula, and aloe that help soothe the appearance of redness and irritation while supporting the skin barrier.
Waterless skincare refers to products that do not use water as a primary ingredient. Instead, they rely on botanical oils, clays, and powdered plant ingredients that preserve potency and freshness until the moment of use.
Ritual-based skincare focuses on slowing down and bringing intention to your skincare routine. Simple practices such as facial massage, applying botanical oils, and using masks weekly can help support both the skin and the nervous system.
Kaia Skin combines Ayurvedic botanicals, modern skin science, and ritual-based skincare practices. Each formulation is intentionally created to support the skin barrier, calm inflammation, and promote healthy, balanced skin while encouraging a mindful self-care ritual.
Ayurvedic skincare is inspired by the traditional Indian system of wellness that focuses on restoring balance in the skin using plant-based ingredients and mindful rituals. Ingredients such as amla, saffron, manjishtha, and neem have been used for centuries to support healthy-looking skin and natural radiance.
Kaia Skin is more than clean skincare — it’s ritual care. We combine Ayurvedic ingredients, intuitive beauty practices, and Reiki energy to support both your skin and your nervous system. Every product is handcrafted in small batches and designed to help you slow down and reconnect.
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on energy healing practice that helps rebalance the body and mind. All of our products are infused with Reiki energy by our founder, a certified Reiki Master. This adds a layer of intention and energetic support that goes beyond the physical benefits — it helps you feel calm, grounded, and connected.
Not at all. Our 5-step ritual — Cleanse, Exfoliate, Mask, Hydrate, Seal — is a guiding framework, not a prescription. You can start with just one or two steps. We encourage you to listen to your skin and let your ritual evolve intuitively.

Our products are formulated for a wide range of skin types, and many are Tridoshic, meaning they work across all doshas and skin concerns. Whether you’re dry, oily, sensitive, or combination, you can customize a ritual that works for you.

Every product is handcrafted in small batches in New York. We formulate with high-quality natural ingredients, following Ayurvedic principles and charging each product with healing intention.
Yes. All Kaia Skin products are cruelty-free. Most are vegan, with the exception of products that contain honey or beeswax (like our Floral Fusion Balm). We clearly label these so you can make the right choice for you.
While many of our products are safe for use during pregnancy, we always recommend consulting your doctor or midwife. Some essential oils and herbs — even natural ones — are best avoided during certain stages of pregnancy or postpartum.

Because our products work holistically, you may notice changes in how your skin feels right away — calmer, softer, more nourished. Visible results often appear within 1–3 weeks of consistent use, especially when combined with mindful rituals and lifestyle care.
Store your products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Because our products are natural and preservative-light, it’s best to use them within 6–12 months of opening.
